Before we reach the posting, this is another shameless reminder to all of you out there to vote for photo 39! Click on the photograph below to arrive at the voting page, follow the instructions at the bottom of the page, and put in your vote for photo number 39!

Now on to the story about ‘photo 39′, which you are looking at above.
This spontaneous shot was taken by Kimitsu Yogachi at our wedding solemnisation in Singapore on February 24 this year. We were standing and welcoming arriving guests when we realised the camera was pointed at us. Both of us immediately came up with a pose and Kimitsu captured it.
When asked for a description about himself as a photographer, Kimitsu contributed the following:
“Pictures are for life. Pictures are for posterity. Kimitsu is the only pictures journalist with All Areas Access for the wedding in Singapore on Feb 24. He will document this very special day by capturing the details behind-the-scenes.”
If you like what this picture conveys, and you would like to reach Kimitsu for his services, get in touch with us and we will connect you with him.
In the meantime, you can show your support for his work by voting for photo 39: http://justwomen.asiaone.com.sg/idx_wedding_entry2.html.

Roberto submitted our photograph on a whim and we are shortlisted: http://justwomen.asiaone.com.sg/idx_wedding_entry2.html, photo number 39.
Those who vote for the most popular photo stand to win S$200 F&B voucher, while the most popular photo wins an ACER laptop.
Thus, I am shamelessly asking you to please vote for us.
Why should we win?
Because:
- our photograph was not posed;
- Roberto and I both did a spontaneous gesture when we realised the camera was pointed at us;
- it was not taken during one of those package wedding album shoots;
- it reflects our feelings about getting married;
- it is most definitely ‘us’!
Click on http://justwomen.asiaone.com.sg/idx_wedding_entry2.html and key ’39′ in the ‘Photo Digits’ space. Voting ends July 13.
(You have to register as an AsiaOne member to vote, but you can unsubscribe later. I know it is a little inconvenient but hope you can please do this for me!)
Do not forget to get your friends, family, dog, cat, colleagues, neighbour, gossip/mahjong kaki etc. in on the voting. And I am serious about this… For every single vote counts and is greatly appreciated!

Since the civil ceremony in Singapore was planned by me, Roberto handled the planning for the upcoming church wedding in Italy.
Although the scale and amount of leg-work work required for this is considerably more, he has managed to pull off everything in typical Italian fashion: slowly but surely, and with some changes to plans along the way.
With one week left to the wedding, one main thing has happened so far: the venue for the wedding has been changed from Dome of Saint Lorenzo to Church of Saint Girolamo, due to a mix-up by the priest.
While this may cause a lot of inconvenience for anyone organising a wedding, we looked at the positive side: at least we were still getting married in a church!
After a quick visit to Church of Saint Girolamo, we immediately felt that it exudes a more suitable ambience for our wedding. Pictures of the 1200 building will be posted after the wedding.
This was not the only hiccup that we met with on our way June 24, but we have crossed each hurdle with a little bend to the left or a turn to the right:
- A wedding planner based in Italy offered to sponsor flower arrangements or decorations in the church/restaurant. She did not call on the morning of our appointment as she promised, and also did not pick up her phone when we called the night before. After that, she did not respond to both the SMS and email sent to her.
- As our original choice of professional photographer is now one of our witnesses, we have decided to give 15 guests disposable cameras to capture their impressions of the wedding and reception.
- No gifts from guests, just cash contribution towards lunch expenses, for it is impractical to ship presents back to Bali.
- Wedding dresses are purchased in Italy, not rented. This is an expense that we have saved on by deciding to reuse our simple outfit used during our solemnisation in Singapore.
There are still some loose ends to tie, but they will most definitely be tight by next Friday.
So now, to the church wedding we go!

Now that the flurry of the Singapore solemnisation has settled, we prepare for the next lap: the preparation for our church wedding in Mestre.
So far, we have determined the wedding date to be Sunday June 24 at Saint Lorenzo dome (Duomo de San Lorenzo), commencing with mass at 10:30am, presided over by Father Stefano Cannizaro (who is only about six months older than I am). That is pretty much it!
We have yet to submit some necessary forms to Father Stefano and have the individual chat with him, although I wonder how he and I can understand each other when my grasp of Italian is as good as his grasp of English. We have yet to finalise the wedding outfits, bouquet, hair & make-up, bridal car, and reception venue.
Should we be panicking? Other couples probably will, but in our usual Roberto & Patricea style, we think everything will fall in to place nicely.
If you happen to be in Italy or Europe around June 24, please do come and share our joy as we celebrate our church wedding. Kindly fill in the form found here: http://cx-weds.com/guest.htm and then turn up!

There are always several people to thank after a wedding and our Singapore solemnisation is no exception.
For starters, Roberto and I would like to thank our parents for bringing us in to this world and ensuring that we grow in to the wonderful persons that we are. Our mothers will always be the one we love most and we also thank our siblings for years of disagreements followed by adult exchanges (the process of growth).
Roberto and I have both been blessed with each other, with loving friends and wonderful experiences. In Singapore, our gratitude goes out to the following angels:
- Pauline Yong, for the design and printing of the wedding invitations;
- Caryn Wong, for the flawless hair styling and makeup done in super quick time;
- Kimitsu Yogachi and Kenneth Pinto, for the emotive photography during the event;
- Camella Fong and Niki Low, for handling the guests at the tiny reception table, and
- Giovanni Lombardo and my brother Vincent Chow, for their willingness to have their names imprinted as our witnesses on our wedding certificate for eternity.
If we have missed out anyone, please forgive us for the oversight. Do know that we are grateful for all the well-wishes from everyone who turned up for the solemnisation, the party at Hacienda as well as others who met us individually. You have all shown us how much love you have for us and for this, we will always feel blessed.
Thank you, our dearest friends.
