Opting for a simple civil ceremony and reception means that we had to limit the number of attending people to less than 100. That leaves the question of how we can share the joy of our wedding with numerous other people whom I have known from as early as 1994.
The solution was a party on the same night of the wedding, held at Hacienda. Located at Dempsey Road, the new al fresco bar showcases lush manicured gardens and foliage, which suited our theme very well.
Although we have yet to see any pictures of the place or read anything about it, we are sure that Hacienda draws in a discerning crowd who appreciates the little details while they enjoy their house music and quality drinks. After all, this is another creation by Michel Lu, who was also behind the nightclubs Lush and Centro (for those who can remember!).
Michel is a very dynamic individual whom I met during the days when I was a fresh graduate working for an entertainment portal, covering the nightlife beat. When I embarked on another more personal project with some friends, he assisted us whenever we needed a venue for organising parties or wanted to interview certain international or local DJs. He has always been helpful without airs.
This time, Michel has again stepped up and made special arrangements for our friends to celebrate the night with us at Hacienda. There will be special drinks promotions as well as groovy house music spun by one of Singapore’s pioneer DJs, Ramesh.
This invitation for our wedding party is open to everyone who would love to share the special day with us. Just make your way to Hacienda on Dempsey Road on Saturday 24 February from 10pm onwards. Come in and party with us in the Garden of Dreams, which is our theme for the night. So make sure you dress according to the theme; let your imagination run free!
We would like to extend our special thanks again to Michel Lu, as well as my very dear friend Kimitsu for helping with the organisation. The two of you are stars!

A wedding is not really a joyous occasion if it is not shared with friends and those whom you are close with. Yet every couple who is going to wed knows that the wedding invite has to reflect the mood of the day and serve as a memory of the day.
With so much expectation required of the invite, coupled with our own ideas of how it should look like, it was not an easy task facing Asher Concepts. The brainchild of a close girlfriend and fellow dance mate Pauline, Asher COncepts specialises in branding and marketing your brand to reflect its essence, and not in some way that a PR or marketing agency would force on to you.
The best part about working with Pauline on the wedding invites was that she could accurately trasnform my ideas from words to images. The end result is a simple yet elegant (those two key words again!) card that reflects the theme and mood of our special day.
For the lucky few whom we have chosen to share the day with us, look out for the card among your mail. For the rest, here is a preview of the card.

Yes, we are getting closer: we are getting closer to the wedding date, we are getting closer to each other, we are getting closer to the end of this wonderful vacation!!!
As a couple we are planing and organizing our life together. It is such a wonderful thing that we both think in a way that the other likes and support. There are many aspects of living together that would put couples trough difficoult times. That’s why it is very important to agree and organize things together (before problems comes out).
One of the main problem couples have is related to money. I have spent a day in the internet and I have collected some material that can be of interest to any couple that is looking forward to be together iunder all aspects, and is wondering how to manage money. We had slightly over two months for having our weding outfits tailor-made.
It would have been easy to approach any tailor and get them to sew something. However, we both wanted a different design for our outfits, not some designs that could be taken off the rack or that were repeated.
With such a tight timeline facing all of us, we had the assistance of Tjok Abi, designer and owner of De Galuh boutique in Denpasar. De Galuh designs are well-known in Indonesia, keeping Pak Abi busy with fashion shows and exhibitions as well as radio talk shows. Pak Abi fuses traditional Balinese style with modern embellishments and materials, such as sequins, lace and update prints.
After speaking to him for 10 minutes, Pak Abi presented us with three sketches for my wedding dress, one of which was exactly how I had imagined it to be. Once that was decided, it was easy to select the groom’s outfit.
The final products are a fun yet elegant combination. We can say more, but you have the pictures that describe more than we could.
